[Also in Group XV] A spring clip, for detachably securing papers to a board 2 and comprising a pivoted clamping plate 4 hinged to the upper edge of an arm 3 of an L-shaped member, the other arm being secured to the board 2 adjacent one edge, the plate 4 being urged into clamping position by a spring 5 surrounding the hinge pin, is provided with a pivoted lever 7, pivoted at 8 to the plate 4, adapted to be moved into operative position so that a lug 9 thereon projects outwardly of the edge of the clamping plate 4 (as shown in full lines) to form a handgrip for pivoting the plate 4 into open or unclamping position (as shown in dot-dash lines), the lug 9 or other portion of the lever being adapted detachably to engage means for holding the clamping plate in its open position. A recess (10, not shown) is formed by bending up a portion of the arm 3 and the lever 7 is pivoted so that the lug 9 engages the recess 10. Alternatively the free end of the lever 7 may be provided with a recess or slot to be engaged by a projecting lug on the arm 3. The lug 9 may be resilient and frictionally engage the rolled over edge 3a of the arm 3 as it is moved to the fully retracted position (shown in dot-dash lines) so as to retain the lever in its inoperative position. The lower edge of the plate 4 may have teeth or serrations for engaging the papers.</p> |
