摘要 <p>Disclosed is an organic electroluminescent device (organic EL device) utilizing phosphorescence, wherein luminous efficiency is improved, while sufficiently securing driving stability. Specifically disclosed is an organic EL device wherein an anode, a hole transporting layer, an organic layer containing a light-emitting layer and an electron transporting layer, and a cathode are arranged on a substrate. In this organic EL device, the hole transporting layer is arranged between the light-emitting layer and the anode, while the electron transporting layer is arranged between the light-emitting layer and the cathode. The light-emitting layer contains an aluminum heterocomplex or dimer complex of deuterated 2-methyl-8-oxyquinoline (Me8HQ-D) obtained by deuterating hydrogen atoms in the methyl group of an optionally substituted 2-methyl-8-oxyquinoline (Me8HQ) as a host material, while containing an organic metal complex including at least one metal selected from group 7-11 elements of the periodic table as a guest material.</p>
