PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem that when an optional luminance signal is printed by monochrome modes of a plurality of color tones such as a warm-black tone and a cool-black tone, different densities are reproduced between respective monochrome modes even on recording media of the same sort.

SOLUTION: The total recording amount of a chromatic material is smaller than the total recording amount of an achromatic material, a plurality of monochrome modes in which the total recording amount of the chromatic material in the first monochrome mode is different from that of the second monochrome mode are set, the recording density of an image recorded on a recording medium by the first monochrome mode is compared with the recording density of an image recorded on a recording medium by the second monochrome mode, and the recoding amount of the achromatic material is adjusted so that the recording density of the image recorded by the first monochrome mode and the recording density of the image recorded by the second monochrome mode are equal to each other in the same luminance signal.
