PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for synthesizing metal sulfide nanoparticles by which applications to an optical functional material, an electronic device and the like can be inexpensively and industrially expected in a moderate system comparing with a conventional synthetic method and to provide a new photoelectric conversion element using the metal sulfide nanoparticles.

SOLUTION: In the method for synthesizing the metal sulfide nanoparticles, a precursor metal complex and a thiol compound solution containing sulfur are mixed.
