PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst which enables a desired conversion treatment associated with selectivity of a desired catalyst by reducing saturation of an aromatic ring and a by-product of a light substance in the catalyst for transalkylation of an alkyl aromatic compound.

SOLUTION: The catalyst suitable for transalkylation of the alkyl aromatic compound comprises an effective amount of an acidic molecular sieve as the catalyst, at least 0.05 mass% of rhenium as an element base, and a combination of tin and germanium.
