PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steam valve which can be miniaturized without increasing steam flow speed to such an extent that performance is deteriorated in a steam valve. SOLUTION: The steam valve includes a valve element 1, a valve seat 2, a valve casing 3 and a valve cover 5 covering the same, and a strainer inhibiting foreign matters from flowing into a steam turbine. The strainer 4 is constructed to keep a lower part thereof larger than an upper part thereof in order to miniaturize a valve inner space without substantially increase steam flow speed (without increase valve pressure loss).
