PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sound insulation engine in which a cover body is held in an open attitude stably without flattering even when an exhaust gas pressure is low such as when a load on the engine is small and the exhaust pipe portion of which is weathered. SOLUTION: An engine 2 and an exhaust muffler 6 are so placed in a casing 3 that engine exhaust gas can be discharged to the outside of the casing 3 through the upward exhaust gas discharge hole 7a of the exhaust muffler 6. A cover 8 is openably and swingably fitted to the exhaust gas discharge hole 7a so that the cover 8 can be opened by the pressure of the engine exhaust gas. An exhaust gas deflection plate 20 is fitted to the exhaust gas discharge hole 7a so that the exhaust gas can be deflected diagonally upward by the exhaust gas deflection plate 20. When the cover 8 is fully opened, the lower surface of the cover 8 and the direction of the exhaust gas received by the lower surface are mutually nearer a right angle than when the cover 8 is fully closed.
