摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To widen a monitoring area and also to detect a detailed road surface condition. SOLUTION: The road surface condition monitoring system comprises first and second road surface condition determination means 21 and 22, and a synthetic determination means 24. The determination means 21 applies laser light to a road to obtain and analyze its reflected light components and determines the road surface condition of the road for each of areas into which the road has been previously divided. The determination means 22 determines a road surface condition at an embedding position of an embedded road-surface sensor 12 by fractionizing it further than the determination means 21 does, based on information obtained by the road-surface sensor 12 which is embedded in the road to take out road-surface condition information on the road, and on weather information obtained by a weather indicator. The determination means 24 takes a determination result obtained by the second road surface condition determination means as a determination result of an area with the relevant road-surface sensor included therein, in the case where there is no contradiction between the determination result obtained by the determination means 22 and a determination result obtained by the determination means 21, and, in other cases, a determination result obtained by the first road surface condition determination means is taken as the determination result of the relevant area.
