<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new nanocolloidal particle, a method for producing the same, an effective catalyst for the diacetoxylation reaction of conjugated diene, and a method for efficiently producing the dicarboxylic acid diester of unsaturated glycol using the nanocolloidal particle as a catalyst. <P>SOLUTION: The new nanocolloidal particle contains an element(s) selected from the groups 9 and 10 and an element(s) selected from the group 16 in the Periodic Table of the elements.
