PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a map display device that eliminates poor visibility of a route, does not cause distortion in a map, enables a user to grasp the position of one's own vehicle in the whole route and the detailed route near the own vehicle, and interlocks the map for guiding the detailed route. SOLUTION: The map display device comprises: a receiving means 11 for receiving information on a destination; a searching means 12 for searching for a route to the destination; a storing means 17 for storing map information, an extracting means 13 for extracting a guide point of the searched route; an arranging means 14 for arranging the guide point and cursor on a time line; a display controlling means 15 for displaying the map of route guidance based on the searched route and the time line on which the guide point and cursor are arranged; and a receiving means 16 for receiving operation of the displayed cursor. When operation of the cursor is received, the display controlling means displays or expands/displays the map around the point through which the vehicle is predicted to pass at the time of the position of the cursor, and displays the time line after the operation.
