PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus of a type to use an ink cartridge, wherein a developer in a development stage, and a worker in a manufacturing stage, do not need to cancel an auto-alignment processing, or don not need to wait until the auto-alignment processing is completed, every time an ink cartridge is replaced. SOLUTION: An ASIC detects that an ink cartridge is replaced (S1; YES). Then, when a setting bit of a USB serial is a value representing validity of the USB serial (S3; YES), the ASIC carries out the auto-alignment processing (S4), while it does not carry out the auto-alignment processing when the setting bit is a value representing invalidity of the USB serial (S3; NO). The image forming apparatus can be switched to carry out the auto-alignment processing at the timing when the USB serial is made valid upon apparatus shipment. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
