PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a model animal having a respiratory disorder during sleeping that reproduced a symptom like snoring, and to provide a method for evaluating a test substance effective for such disorders utilizing the model animal. SOLUTION: The model animal with a respiratory disorder during sleeping is such as to be created by conducting a hypnotic or anesthetic treatment and a nose-closing treatment on a hamster. The method for evaluating a test substance effective for the disorders comprises administering the model animal with the test substance and then evaluating it with sound emitted from the model animal as a criterion.
