PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data storage device capable of efficiently storing data used for study of the cause of a failure or abnormality or the like of an apparatus or the like by effectively utilizing limited storage capacity of a data storage part. SOLUTION: The data storage device 20 for a vehicle determines whether time series data temporally stored in RAM 23 is stored in the data storage part 26 or not with comparing difference between previous acquired data and present acquired data with data threshold established at every abnormal phenomenon when various data relating abnormal phenomenon are stored. Threshold of data is established lower when data need to be stored at fine accuracy and threshold of data is established higher when data can be stored at coarse accuracy. Since recording accuracy of each data can be appropriately established according to abnormal phenomena by such a construction, causes thereof can be studied later without wastefully using storage capacity.
