PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To transfer the information on the status and the information concerning qualifications of utilization propriety of communication means automatically established according to a communicating counterpart, to the communicating counterpart, by detecting the status of a terminal automatically. SOLUTION: The presence service system comprises: a sensor section 1; a schedule management section 2; a presence setting section 3 which maintains a presence setting table 3b for matching the communication partner point and a state of use propriety of a communication means for every state, which updates the table 3b based on state information from the above sensor section and the schedule management section 2, and furthermore which specifies a state by the state information so as to read information on use propriety of the communication means corresponding to the state concerned; a presence format part 5 for matching the information concerning the above use propriety with the communication partner point so as to process the presence information on a predetermined format; and a presence service terminal having a communication section 7 for transmitting the above presence information.
