PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication system and an imaging apparatus by which transmission error of imaging data is suppressed. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus 100 which can be connected to a portable terminal 200 via a short range radio has a camera part 130 which picks up an image of a subject, in image pickup of the subject by the camera part 130, a destination information request for requesting transmission of destination information of the portable terminal 200 is transmitted toward the portable terminal 200 located within a fixed distance from the imaging apparatus 100 and image pickup data which are data of the subject picked up by the camera part 130 are transmitted to the portable terminal 200 which transmits the destination information according to the destination information request.
