PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a glass funnel for a cathode-ray tube with moldability sustained and weight reduced than before, and a cathode-ray tube. SOLUTION: The glass funnel for the cathode-ray tube is provided with a pyramid or conical yoke part having an aperture at one end, a body part connecting to the opposite side end from the aperture of the yoke part and with a nearly-rectangular seal edge part formed on an end of the opposite side of the yoke part, and a neck part connecting to the aperture and equipped with a housing space of an electron gun. With the body part cut to cross a tube axis, when a first line of intersection with the cut section and a flat face going through a center position of a long side of a nearly rectangle-shaped seal edge part passing a tube axis is defined as a short axis, a thickness of the body part on the cut section is thicker than that of its periphery on the short axis, and also, the body part in a shape surrounded by the body part on the cut section is convexed onto an inner face side of a part thicker than its periphery on the short axis in a region with a predetermined distance or more from the seal edge part in the tube axis direction.
