PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To start a recording operation in a DVD recorder provided with CPRM function, when a user pushes a video recording button to record contents on DVD media compatible with CPRM. SOLUTION: When the DVD media compatible with CPRM are loaded (S301), a media key is stored (S303) by an encryption device irrespective of whether an instruction receiving section receives a video recording instruction or not (S 303). The encryption device stores the media key (S313) also after the contents are recorded on a hard disk by a hard disk video recording/reproducing device. Thus, since the contents are instantly encrypted by the encryption device by using the media key already stored when the user pushes the video recording button, the encrypted contents can be promptly recorded to the DVD media compatible with CPRM by a DVD video recording/reproducing device.
