PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the generation of fine liquid droplets which follow main droplets accompanying a liquid discharge. SOLUTION: Air bubbles 6 which are generated from a heating element 2 being arranged on the rear surface of an orifice plate 4 are made to advance into a discharging port 5. Then, the leading end of the air bubbles 6 is made to reach at least the liquid discharging surface 8 of the orifice plate 4. A column-form liquid remaining in the central section of the discharging port 5 by being pinched by the air bubbles 6 is parted by a contraction force resulting from the surface tension toward the central section of the discharging port 5.
