PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for effectively treating hardly dehydrated treatment sludge highly decayed and containing a small amount of fibers at a low cost. SOLUTION: In a method for dehydrating sludge using a polymeric flocculant containing a cationic water soluble polymeric compound, which comprises a copolymer (A) composed of an acrylamide having a structural formula (1) and a quaternary ammonium acrylate (2), and an amphoteric water soluble polymeric compound, which comprises a copolymer (B) composed of acrylic acids having structural formulae (1), (2) and (3), the polymeric flocculant further contains an amphoteric water soluble polymeric compound comprising a copolymer (C) composed of acrylic acids having structural formulae (1) and (2) and a tertiary aminoacrylate having a structural formula (4) and an amidine cationic polymeric compound comprising a polymeric compound (D) containing an amidine ring structure having a structural formula.
