An LCD and its fabrication method are provided to maintain the space gap between the first and second substrates to resolve non-filling by maintaining a state that the first column spacer is inserted in a protrusion even after the pressure applied to the first column space is released. The first and second substrates(100,200) face each other. Gate lines and data lines cross each other to define pixel areas on the first substrate. A common line is spaced apart from the gate line and formed to be parallel to the gate line. A protrusion(180) is formed as a stacked body including the first pattern(150) on the same layer on which the gate line is formed and the second pattern(145b) on the same layer on which the data line is formed. A pixel electrode is formed at the pixel area. The first column spacer(250) is formed on the second substrate and a portion of the first column spacer corresponds to the protrusion(180). A liquid crystal layer is filled between the first and second substrates. |
