A system and a method for providing a lost mobile phone retrieving service are provided to increase the lost mobile phone restoration rate by extracting a mobile phone number of a person who picks up the lost mobile phone through repeated extraction and comparison procedures about mobile phone use information in a service area where the mobile phone is lost. A system for providing a lost mobile phone retrieving service comprises a mobile communication network(10) and a loss management server(20). The mobile communication network registers the location of a lost terminal device, and extracts phone numbers used in the same location in order to offer to the server. Wherein, the mobile communication network comprises a BTS(Base station Transceiver Subsystem)(11), a BSC(Base Station Controller)(13), an MCS(Mobile Switching Center) and an HLP(Home Location register)(17). The BTS performs wired/wireless connecting function between a mobile phone(30) and the BSC, and performs the wireless connection function for the mobile phone. The BSC is positioned between the BTS and the MCS to control the BTS. The BTS and the BSC receive location registration request from the lost mobile phone and transmit the registration request to the MSC when location of the lost mobile phone is registered by operations such as power-on or location transfer actions. The MCS is connected with the BSC, performs call processing function, extracts phone number of the mobile phone, and transmits the extracted phone number to the loss management server. The HLP is connected to the MCS, and manages personal information of members.
