METHOD FOR MANAGING HANDOFF PROCEDUER OF A MOBILE NODE IN A MOBILE COMMUNICATION SUPPORTING PROXY MOBILE INTERNET PROTOCOL

A method and a system for managing the handoff of a mobile node in a mobile communication system which supports PMIP(Proxy Mobile Internet Protocol) are provided to prevent a wrong operation in the process of transmitting a BU(Binding Update) or RRQ(Registration Request) message to a HA(Home Agent) in case a mobile node uses CMIP(Client Mobile Internet Protocol). A T-PDSN(Target Packet Data Service Node)(105) transmits a request message for the handoff of a mobile node, which moves to the area of a target access network, to an S-PDSN(Serving PDSN)(103). The T-PDSN transmits a proxy BU message to a HA and executes registration for the handoff of the mobile node. Waiting for a response for the proxy BU message, the T-PDSN judges whether or not a CMIP BU message is received from the mobile node. In case the CMIP BU message is received from the mobile node, the T-PDSN filters the received CMIP BU message.
