<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive variable displacement compressor with a simple structure having good responsiveness. <P>SOLUTION: A pulley 18 for receiving driving force of an engine is connected through a compressing coil spring to a bracket 17 fixed to a rotating shaft for rotating and a swash plate 11. When torque of a certain value or higher is applied to the pulley 18, torsion is generated between the pulley 18 and the bracket 17. A spiral displacing member 23 inserted between the pulley 18 and a disk 21 engaged to the bracket 17 converts a rotational change caused by the torsion to a change in the axial direction of a rotational shaft 6. A volume control valve 28 is controlled through a shaft 20. Thereby, pressure in a crankcase 5 is raised, discharge capacity is lowered, and the required torque of the variable displacement compressor is suppressed. A simple structure directly controlling volume by the torque detected by the compressing coil spring enables control with excellent accuracy and responsiveness, to improve efficiency and responsiveness of the engine. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
