GEL POLYMER ELECTROLYTE AND ELECTROCHEMICAL DEVICE COMPRISING THE SAME

A gel polymer electrolyte composition, a gel polymer electrolyte prepared by polymerizing the composition, and an electrochemical device containing the electrolyte are provided to improve mechanical strength and ion conductivity. A gel polymer electrolyte composition comprises a cyclic compound having a ring at the center and at least three double bonds at the terminal as a first crosslinking agent; a linear or branched compound having an oxyalkylene group at the center and at least two (meth)acryl groups at the terminal as a second crosslinking agent; an electrolyte solvent; an electrolyte salt; and a polymerization initiator. Preferably the cyclic compound as a first crosslinking agent is represented by the formula 1 or 2, wherein R1 and R3 are H or a methyl group; R2 and R4 are a C1-C12 alkylene group; n is 0 or 1; and W is a vinyl group or a (meth)acrylate group.
