An aqueous substitution infusion fluid for haemofiltration comprising citrate. The fluid may for instance by used in a haemofiltration process comprising
- introducing blood from a subject into an extracorporeal circuit;
- adding a fluid according to any one of the claims 1-5 to the blood; thereafter
- filtering the blood using a haemofilter; and
- returning the filtered blood to the subject.
