A cover 6, for a sail chute or sock 2 is provided and is controlled by movement of the sail's tack line 7 so that its operation is automatic. The cover prevents ingress of water into the chute or sock mouth 3, which could otherwise waterlog the sail 1, or wind which could hinder deployment of the sail. The cover may be flexible and designed to be shipped in folded form. The cover may be held against the chute or sock mouth using an elastic device (10, Fig 5) and a knot or fitting (9, Fig 5) attached to the tack line. |
