An apparatus and method for reducing braking distance in emergency braking is provided to determine whether braking of a construction vehicle is emergency braking and to reverse the running direction at time of emergency braking. An apparatus and method for reducing braking distance in emergency braking comprises a brake angle sensor(10) for measuring an amount of revolution of a brake pedal per unit hour, a road surface detecting sensor(20), an equipment controller(30), a vehicle speed sensor(50), and a fuel injection controller(60) for controlling an amount of supplied fuel. The equipment controller compares measured values from the brake angle sensor and the road surface detecting sensor with predetermined values and outputs an emergency braking signal. An advance and reverse running control unit(40) is provided to reverse wheels of the vehicle according to the signal output from the equipment controller. |
