METHOD FOR AUTHENTICATING LEGACY DEVICE AND SYSTEM

A method and a system for authenticating a legacy device is provided to prevent illegal contents leakage caused by duplicated access of the legacy device by preventing the legacy device from accessing a domain of a DRM(Digital Rights Management) system or a DRM interchange system with duplication, as unique information of the legacy device is managed by a virtual client or a domain manager. A virtual client(30) requests authentication of a legacy device(40) by transmitting unique information of the legacy device wanting to access a domain(10) of a DRM system(90) or a DRM interchange system. A domain manager(70) determines duplicated access of the legacy device by using the received unique legacy device information and authenticates the legacy device depending on a determination result. The domain manager manages an information table storing the unique legacy device information and a device ID by each domain, and determines the duplicated access of the legacy device by searching the received unique legacy device information in the information table. A client proxy(20) mediates items related to the interworking between a client(51) and the domain.
