A method for extracting an image characteristic amount and a content-based image searching method using the same are provided to enhance discrimination capabilities between the original and a duplication while maintaining strong searching characteristics with respect to images. A characteristic amount vector of a query image is calculated(S401). The sum of absolute values with respect to a difference between a characteristic amount vector of an original image existing in a database and the obtained characteristic amount vector of the query image is calculated(S402). It is checked whether the sum is greater than a pre-set reference value to determine whether the corresponding image is true(S403). When searching for one characteristic amount vector existing in the database is completed, the same operation is repeatedly performed on the other remaining characteristic amount vectors existing in the database(S404). |
