An apparatus and a method for analog manipulation in a portable terminal are provided to present an interface based on an analog input scheme and associated supplemental functions, without any additional device, by enabling a user to perform an analog operation through a keypad. A control part determines whether the input of the first key to shift the cursor is generated(201). If the first key is inputted, the control part confirms the coordinate information mapped to the first key(203). Then the control part whether the input of the second key to shift the cursor is generated(205). If the second key is inputted, the control part confirms the coordinate information mapped to the second key(207). The control part compares the coordinate information mapped to the first key with the coordinate information mapped to the second key(209). If the coordinate information mapped to the first key is identical to the coordinate information mapped to the second key, the control part executes a double click operation(211).
