A method for controlling incoming calls through voce recognition and a portable terminal for executing the same are provided to enable a user to control incoming calls easily without touching his portable terminal by registering a voice for call connection and a voice for call rejection and comparing the registered voices with an inputted voice when an incoming call is generated. If an incoming call is generated(410), a control part judges whether a call destination-based voice recognition mode transfer function is in an active state(420). If so, the control part transfers to voice recognition mode(430). At this moment, the control part activates a microphone for voice recognition. Then, if a voice is inputted through the microphone(440), the control part compares the inputted voice with previously registered voices(450). In case the inputted voice is matched with a voice for call connection(460), the control part connects the incoming call and transfers to speaker phone mode(470).
