A circuit breaker is provided to exactly open and close a fixed contact and a movable contact on a movement axial line of a separator, sufficiently secure a contact pressure, and firmly prevent a contact error. A circuit breaker blocks a main electric line by separating a movable contact(18) from a fixed contact(17) when an error such as electric leakage, overcurrent, and short-circuit occurs on the main electric line. The fixed contact is installed inside a case(4) of the circuit breaker, a separator is movably installed in a predetermined direction, and the movable contact is installed on the separator. When the error occurs, the movable contact is separated from the fixed contact by the movement of the separator.
