A data sharing device of a portable terminal and a method thereof are provided to set data to be shared among stored data, so that the data can be shared whenever users allowed to share the data request the data sharing, therefore the users can simply share the data. A controller checks whether a sharing allow message is received from the first terminal(301). If so, the controller confirms the received message to output a list of sharable data on a display(303), and receives selection for data to be shared by a user(305). The controller demands the selected data to the first terminal(307), and receives shared data of the first terminal from a sharing server(309). The controller stores the received data in a memory(311).
