A material handling robot having a pair of robot arms is provided to minimize a radius of swivel and to prevent an offset of the center of gravity when picking up and placing an object for producing liquid crystal display such as a glass substrate. A dual-arm material handling robot, which has a pair of robot arms attached to an articulation to be able to rotate to transmit rotational force of a driver and a movable member to adjust the height of the robot arms, has a rotational shaft(217) which is arranged to serve as a common shaft for articulations(217a,217b) of both robot arms attached to sliders(216a,216b) and a swivel shaft(215) which makes the robot arms swivel around the shaft. The rotational shaft and the swivel shaft are arranged in parallel to the direction of robot arm extension.
