The method involves determining a parametric quantifier during an iterative phase, and estimating a set of values of flow of respective samples associated to values of the quantifier using a predetermined estimation technique during iteration, where the values of the samples have non-zero occurrence during the previous iteration. A set of values of the flow of samples associated to the values of the quantifier is estimated using an estimation technique that is different from the predetermined technique, where the values of the samples have non-zero occurrence during the previous iteration. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a device for coding multi-dimensional digital signal, comprising a parametric quantifier determining unit (2) a telecommunication system comprising a set of terminal devices connected across a telecommunication network (3) information storage medium for storing instructions for implementing a method for coding multi-dimensional digital signals (4) a computer program product comprising sequence of instructions for implementing a method for coding multi-dimensional digital signals.
