The device has an annular chamber (6) connected to an inlet (4) for a flue gas (2). A central chamber (7) is connected to an inlet (5) for an oxidant (3) such as air. Swirl creating units (8) in the chambers make the flue gas and oxidant to swirl at different rotation speeds around a common flow direction (9). The swirled flue gas and oxidant are received by a mixing chamber (10) to form flue gas and oxidant mixture. An independent claim is also included for a method for the preparation of a homogenous mixture.
