A handover performance method and a mobile terminal for supporting the method are provided to execute different handover-related actions according to each class, and to designate plural handover-related actions, therefore efficient handover is enabled while reception frequency of trigger control information is reduced. Handover-related trigger control information is received from a service base station(S401). A scanning process for neighboring base stations is carried out in sleeping mode(S402,S403). If the scanning performance results are matched with trigger standards set in the control information, a particular handover-related action designated in the control information is triggered(S404,S405).
