A developing device and an image forming apparatus are provided to enable an impurity capturing unit to capture impurities and enable an impurity removing unit to move the impurities out of a developer container, thereby suppressing image quality faults generated by the impurities mixed into a developer. A developing member(22) forms a toner image on a surface of a toner image carrier for holding the toner image. A developer container(21) receives a developer including toner. A collected-toner receiving port receives collected-toner, collected from the toner image carrier, within the developer container. A partition member(21A) partitions an interior of the developer container into a first chamber(21F) and a second chamber(21R). A developer conveying unit(25F,25R) is disposed within the first chamber and rotates to convey the developer. A movement opening unit(21Ab) makes the developer, received in the first chamber, move to the second chamber. A capturing unit is disposed at movement opening unit and captures impurities moving through the movement opening unit together with the developer. An impurities removing unit(60) is disposed in the developer conveying unit and moves the impurities, captured by the capturing unit, out of the developer container according to the rotation of the developer conveying unit so as to remove the impurities. |
