PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for driving an electrophoretic display panel that can prevent degradation of a display grade in a segment. SOLUTION: A potential difference between pulses which may be generated in switching of an L potential with an H potential can be inhibited by having inserted a high impedance state Hi-Z to each pulse of a driving signal COM in the electrophoretic display panel and a driving signal SEG3 corresponding to the segment which should hold a display, respectively. Consequently, a display color of the segment is reliably held, so that the display grade in the segment to hold the display can be prevented from degradation. Also, the application of the potential in the segment to hold the display is stopped in the high impedance state Hi-Z so that the power saving can be achieved. Further, it can be prevented beforehand that the degradation of the display grade which may be generated in switching of the pulse potential is accumulated and becomes apparent, by performing such a drive particularly in continuous driving of time correction or the like.
