PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the wear of rails for traveling caused by the movement of the rails and power required for the movement of the rails when a tunnel is bored by a gantry tunnel boring machine. SOLUTION: This gantry tunnel boring machine 10 comprises a gantry 16 capable of traveling on a pair of rails 14, outriggers 32 mounted to the gantry, and at least one suspending means 34 mounted to the gantry 16 and suspending the rails movably in the longitudinal direction.
