PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spray material spraying thickly even when a quick setting admixture is not used and imparting excellent initial crack resistance and a spraying method using the same. SOLUTION: The spray material contains cement, pozzolan fine powder, a high molecular thickener and/or a hormite-based mineral, sand of aggregate, lightweight aggregate, an expanding material, a shrinkage reducing agent, a fluidizing agent and/or an air entraining agent, a setting accelerator and a melt-spun basalt fiber and contains 100-260 pts.mass sand of the aggregate per 100 pts.mass cement and 2-15 pts.mass lightweight aggregate having≤0.7 g/cm<SP>3</SP>bulk density per 100 pts.mass sand. It is preferable that the high molecular thickener is hydroxyethylmethyl cellulose, the hormite mineral contains≤1 mass% crystalline silica and the shrinkage reducing agent is a powdery polyoxyalkylene derivative.
