PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase efficiency of energy use of the whole crane system by using electric power stored in a capacitor storage circuit actively. SOLUTION: This harbor loading and unloading crane system is provided with a generator 11 using at least a diesel engine 10 as power source, a rectifying circuit 12 for converting the electric power generated by the generator 11 into direct current electric power, an inverter circuit 16 for converting the direct current electric power generated by the rectifying circuit 12 into alternate current electric power, the capacitor storage circuit 14 for storing direct current electric power between the rectifying circuit 12 and the inverter circuit 16, an electric motor 17 driven by outputs from the inverter circuit 16, and a crane 18 obtaining power from the electric motor 17. This harbor loading and unloading crane system has an unloading mode in which the diesel engine 10 is always ON to generate electric power by the generator 11 at all times and use the electric power stored in the capacitor storage circuit 14 in a supplementary manner and an unloading mode in which the diesel engine 10 is appropriately ON to generate electric power by the generator 11 as required and use the electric power stored in the capacitor storage circuit 14 mainly.
