PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filter element that can be produced in small lots in a wide variety of products without requiring a substantial design change of a production process and/or production apparatus therefor and enables a quick response to a need therefor, which filter element is used when a corrugated filter element is needed for replacing a prior art planar filter medium or for installing it in existing equipment at a later time, and a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: The filter element is constituted of a filter sack formed and comprised of a corrugated face and a plurality of side faces fabricated from a sheet of filter medium with the filter sack fixed to a planar frame member. The central part of the filter medium sheet is folded to form a corrugated shape comprising a plurality of mountains and valleys. The side faces are formed by folding the filter medium sheet at the boundary of the central part and the end parts with a cutting formed in each of the end parts of the filter medium. The end parts are either bonded with each other or bonded to the central part. The end part and the tip part are folded at the boundary thereof to form a frame face disposed adjacent to the side faces. The frame face is fixed to the frame member. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
