An apparatus and a method for controlling video recording in a camera terminal are provided to allow a user to store various video files while recording video, and perform recording easily through a simple UI(User Interface). When a key is inputted, a key input unit(104) outputs data corresponding to the key value. A video encoder(128) processes an image which is previously recorded and an image having a size different from that of the previously recorded image such that the images are recorded in a single video file, encodes the same, and outputs the encoded image data, according to a control signal. A memory unit(102) stores the encoded image data. When a key is inputted to change a type of a camera or an image size through the key input unit(104) while video recording is being performed, a controller(100) outputs the control signal to the video encoder(128). The control signal processes the image which is previously recorded and the image having the size different from that of the previously recorded image such that the images are recorded in the single video file and encodes the images.
