<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect whether the changeover of the application of positive voltage and inverse voltage, applied to an air/fuel ratio sensor, is being conducted normally. <P>SOLUTION: This control device of the air/fuel ratio sensor is equipped with a positive terminal, connected to the electrode on the atmospheric side of the air/fuel ratio sensor; a negative terminal, connected to the electrode on the exhaust side of the air/fuel ratio sensor; and a change-over means for changing-over a positive voltage applying state where a positive voltage is applied across both terminals and a reverse voltage applying state, where a reverse voltage is applied between both the terminals so that the potential of the negative terminal becomes higher than that of the positive terminal. This control device is also equipped with a voltage detection means for detecting the voltage between both the terminals, and a means for detecting the failure of the change-over means, based on the voltage between both terminals in the positive voltage applying state and the voltage between both terminals in the reverse voltage applying state. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
