PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lubricant film forming method fixed to only a portion of the surface of a base material and having satisfactory durability, to provide a slide body wherein a lubricant is fixed to only a portion of a sliding surface, and to provide a magnetic recording medium, a magnetic head slider and a hard disk. SOLUTION: The lubricant film forming method includes a step of irradiating only a portion of the surface of a substrate 10 on which the lubricant 21 having OH groups 22 each bonded to a carbon atom is applied with an infrared laser beam exciting vibration of OH bonds of the OH groups 22 to form the lubricant film on only at least one portion of the surface.
