PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producingδ-valerolactone derivatives such as mevalolactone, etc., in a high purity from raw materials available in high purity by a simple operation and by a method for capable of producing the same industrially. SOLUTION: This method for producing theδ-valerolactone derivatives expressed by formula (2) [wherein, R1to R7are each the same meaning as in a specific epoxyalcohol] is provided by reacting the specific epoxyalcohol with carbon monoxide in the presence of a cobalt compound.
