PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a piperidine compound (2) in one step by using a reducing agent having high industrial safety compared with the agent of conventional methods. SOLUTION: The invention provides a method for producing a piperidine compound expressed by formula (2) by reacting a cyclic amine compound expressed by formula (1) with 1-benzyl-4-piperidone and hydrogen in the presence of a palladium catalyst. In the formulas, R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>2</SP>and R<SP>3</SP>are each independently hydrogen atom or a 1-6C straight-chain, 1-6C branched-chain or 3-6C cyclic alkyl group; and n is 1 or 2.
