POSITION DETECTION SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a position detection system which is easy in execution and capable of modifying the detection area of an ultrasonic wave reception part corresponding to the moving space of a mobile body. SOLUTION: The position detecting system is composed of: a transmitter 1 mounted on the mobile body A being the object of position detection, provided with an ultrasonic wave transmitter part 11 for transmitting ultrasonic waves; and a receiving device 2 having an ultrasonic wave receiver part 21 formed with an array sensor arrayed on the same substrate with a plurality of wave receiving elements which receive the ultrasonic waves transmitted from the ultrasonic wave transmitter part 11 and convert the received ultrasonic waves into the receiving signal of electric signals. The receiving device 2 is provided with: the position operation part 22 for obtaining the distance between the receiver device 2 and the transmitter 1 as well as obtaining the azimuth of the transmitter 1 to the receiver device 2 based on the time difference between the received time of each receiving element and the arrayed position of each receiving element of the ultrasonic wave receiver part 21; and a directivity adjusting part 28 for adjusting the directivity of the ultrasonic wave receiver part 21.
