[MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] In the method of controlling the common rail fuel injection device (100) performing multi-stage injections, crank angle-based pilot injection timing ?p and crank angle-based main injection timing ?m are controlled by an ECU (70). The ECU (70) calculates a time-based pilot injection interval Tpin and adjusts the main injection timing ?m when the pilot injection interval Tpin is less than a preset threshold (1 (ms) in this example).</p>
